OKOndt GROUP has launched a new generation of Systems for high-speed ultrasonic testing of railway tracks: the OKOSCAN UT 73HS PICKUP. It is designed for integration into road-rail vehicles. The first System has already been sold and is in operation in the USA, where it has been combined with a Ford F350 XL (SUPER DUTY).

Both rails can be tested using the ultrasonic method at speeds of up to 40 km/h, with all types of defects being detected. The testing results are visualised in A-Scan and B-Scan modes and saved in the database.

The four search wheels (SWPs) contain probes at 0°, 37°, 50° and 70° angles.

The OKOSCAN UT 73HS PICKUP construction enables the SWPs to be positioned on the rail axes while tracking the railway gauge.
